saturday started off early with a trip to the y with the kids while matt wakeboarded with some friends.
then we met up to go to the hindu temple of minnesota with prakash and his wife kamala.
a few weeks ago they invited us to take a tour, have an indian lunch and listen to a live performance of indian music.
what a special afternoon this was for our family.
no, we're not converting to hinduism.
you cannot convert. you have to be born into it.
but it was a neat experience to learn about their religion and culture.
the food and music weren't bad either.
just ask my kids.
funny matt and i really enjoyed the lunch (a whole lot better than our indian try the day before) and prakash says under his breath when we were finishing up, "the food is terrible today".
coulda fooled me.
watching these 2 cuties waiting for the real performance.
this boy really was belting it out.
the architecture was beautiful and a lot of it symbolizes aspects of their beliefs.
oh ya and little e actually fell asleep on my lap during the musical performance.
it was loud and lively but dark and soothing in a way.
i was one very happy momma holding my little guy so tender and sweet.
after being indoors most of the day, it was time to break out and soak up some sun.
to the boat.
these funny kids were catching fish right in their little target toy net.
they thought it was so great.
a teaching moment.
love this man!
there was talk of tubing and i immediately jumped on that.
i haven't done it all summer.
i was a little rusty and took it easy.
but these 2 are daredevils.
especially the little one.
but this one still plays it safe on the sidelines.
the sky quickly started turning dark blue/gray gearing up for a storm.
we headed back and made it home to beckham chained in the backyard just in time.
today was an interesting day at church.
let's just say i hope things work out for the best for people i care about very much.
and then the afternoon of birthday picnicing (matt's, his dad's and sister's all within 2 weeks) was cut short on account of serious wind and chill.
beckham didn't seem to mind the cold.
we found this guy in the parking lot as we were leaving.
i heard something that sounded like an electrical short.
just a cicada.
did you know these little guys can have up to a 17 year life cycle?
i learned that when i was a kid watching lucas.
our evening plans were postponed and so they were spent cleaning.
and then watching a few episodes of this.
i used to hate this show when it was airing years ago.
but i watched the first episode with paisley and emmett on netflix just for kicks and i was sucked in.
i think it's because i feel i relate to the mom in so many ways.
or that i want to.
anyway, it's a little weird and embarrassing.
but such is life.
have you ever seen a cicada?
what show are you embarrassed to admit you watch?
what water sports have you tried?
5.1 mile run
10 minutes core with the exercise ball
35 min cycle class
light swim in the evening
